Staff Report
Note to Southern Tier Athletic Conference girls basketball coaches: Don't leave Sienna Wisse open this season.
Junior guard Wisse hit four three-point field goals Wednesday en route to a game-high 19 points as host Oneonta High started its season with a 67-13 rout of Susquehanna Valley in the first round of the Anthony C. Drago Tournament.
The game doubled as the STAC opener for both teams.
"We got off to a great start and shot the ball unbelievably well in the first quarter," said OHS coach Bob Zeh, who added that Wisse opened the scoring with her first of three three-pointers in the first period. "She took like two steps and nobody was on her, so she shot it. First shot of the season, swish. It seems like you'd know who she is."
A Second Team Class B all-state pick last season, Wisse scored 11 points in the first quarter as OHS jumped to a 21-4 advantage. Wisse also earned Daily Star First Team All-Star honors last season for the defending Section Four Class B champion Jackets, who outscored SV, 17-0, in the fourth period.
Erin Wolstenholme contributed 15 points and Katie Bredin had nine for OHS, which advanced to the Drago final against Gloversville at 8 p.m. Saturday.
"Wolstenholme played steadily the whole game," said Zeh, whose program finished 25-1 last season after falling, 39-35, to Nanuet in the Class B state championship game. "We have a number of people who can score. I think we have at least four players capable of scoring in double figures every night, so that should make us tough to defend."
Gloversville defeated Vestal in overtime, 63-58, in Wednesday's other Drago opener. Vestal will play the Sabers in the Drago consolation game at 6:30 p.m. Saturday.

Ernie Davis Classic
A failed two-point conversion resulted in a 7-6 loss for the East team in the 20th annual Ernie Davis Classic on Wednesday at Union-Endicott's Ty Cobb Stadium.
U-E's Jordan Thomas scored the East's points on a 1-yard touchdown run with less than seven minutes to play but was stopped short on the two-point try as the West held on for the victory.
Travis French from Newark Valley put the West ahead, 6-0, with a 1-yard TD run in the second quarter. Elmira Southside's Mike Weaver followed with what turned out to be the decisive extra point.
The East's roster for Section Four's senior showcase included Bainbridge-Guilford's Justin Pepper and Ethan Mazzarella; Oneonta's Doug DiMartin and Kasey Hogan; Unadilla Valley/Edmeston's John Lopez; Unatego's Evan Kiss; and Walton's Phil Hanley and Evan Boyd.
