If Madie Harlem continues to produce as she has during Hamilton College's first two women's basketball games, it probably won't take long for her to crack the team's starting lineup.
Oneonta High graduate Harlem, The Daily Star's Player of the Year in 2009, is averaging 10 points, six rebounds, four steals and three assists for the Continentals (1-1). Perhaps more impressive is that Harlem has produced those numbers despite averaging 22.5 minutes of playing time.
She scored 11 points on 5-for-8 shooting from the floor in Hamilton's 79-59 victory over Suffolk on Saturday. Harlem also had three rebounds, four steals, two assists and three turnovers.
In a 71-69 loss to Emerson College on Friday, Harlem had nine points, eight rebounds, four assists, four steals and five turnovers.
For the season, Harlem has hit 9 of 16 shots, including 2-for-4 from three-point range.
Harlem led the Yellowjackets to a 25-1 record last season, averaging 18.2 points to go along with 113 assists and 98 steals. She was a first-team all-state performer in Class B last season, when the Yellowjackets advanced to the state final.

Harder also led the team in blocks (38) and her 34 aces were second on the team. She also contributed 90 digs.
The Wildcats went 7-18.
Jodi Kenyon
Worcester graduate Kenyon was named The Commonwealth Coast Conference Coach of the Year for women's soccer after leading Endicott (Mass.) College to a conference title and a 17-5-1 record.
The Gulls advanced to the NCAA Division III tournament, eliminating a Geneseo squad led by Oneonta High graduate Eileen Coyle in the opening round in a penalty-kick shootout.
In the second round, Endicott lost, 1-0, to Messiah College (23-0-1), which has advanced to the final four.
Kenyon scored 108 goals for Worcester in the mid-1980s.
She completed her fifth season at Endicott.
Alex Mirabito
Freshman guard Mirabito (Oneonta High) has appeared in two of Oswego State's three men's basketball games this season.

Mumbulo wrested unattached but is listed as a red-shirt senior on Upper Iowa University's Division II team.
Victor Coronado, a freshman from Afton, and Trevor Franklin, a red-shirt sophomore who wrestled for Unadilla Valley, are also on UIU's roster. Coronado wrestles at 141 pounds and Franklin is at 133.
