Three Cobleskill

teams in NEACs

Cobleskill's men's soccer, women's soccer and volleyball teams are participating in the North Eastern Athletic Conference tournaments.

The women's soccer team is seeded fifth and opens at 2 p.m. today at No. 4 Penn State-Berks (13-5). Cobleskill (8-9) lost to Berks earlier this year, 4-0.

The winner advances to the semifinals and will face top-seeded Penn State-Harrisburg (14-2).

The Fighting Tigers (5-11) are the sixth seed in men's soccer and face third-seeded Cazenovia at Wells College at 2 p.m. Thursday.

Cazenovia (9-6-1) beat Cobleskill, 1-0, Oct. 1.

The winner advances to the semifinals at Wells College on Saturday. The championship is slated for 1 p.m. Sunday at Keuka College.

In volleyball, the Fighting Tigers (10-13) are the seventh seed and face Penn State-Abington at Penn State-Harrisburg at 3 p.m. Friday. The winner then moves to pool play and faces third-seeded SUNYIT at 7 p.m. Friday.

'Wick seeded second

in field hockey

Hartwick College (11-6) earned the second seed in the Empire 8 Tournament, which will be held at Stevens Institute of Technology on Saturday and Sunday.

The Hawks play No. 3 Washington & Jefferson at 2:30 p.m. Top-seeded Stevens plays No. 4 Ithaca at noon.

The championship is slated for Sunday.

O-State athletes of the week

Swimmers Joseph Farrell and Kristen Magliola have been named Oneonta State's athletes of the week.

Farrell, a senior, won three events in O-State's season-opening loss against Oswego Saturday. He won the 1,000-yard freestyle (10 minutes, 43.04 seconds), 200 freestyle (1:49.48) and 100 freestyle (49.55).

Magliola, a freshman, won two events in her debut for the Red Dragons.

She won the 100 breaststroke, setting the school record in 1:10.23, breaking the previous record of 1:11.29. She also won the 200 individual medley in 2:14.90.

The Red Dragons lost to Oswego.

Region III Tournament

Fifth-seeded SUNY Delhi went 1-2 in pool play during the NJCAA Division III Region III Tournament on Saturday at Corning.

Kelsey Pratt earned first team all-region honors after amassing 33 kills, 10 digs and nine blocks for the Broncos, who were swept by top-seeded Niagara and lost, 2-1, to No. 9 Jamestown. The Broncos swept No. 4 Fulton-Montgomery before falling to Niagara, which won the region championship.

Heather Begin contributed 29 kills, 38 digs, and 21 assists for the Broncos, who received 51 digs, 13 kills, and seven aces from Jackie Bailey. Begin and Bailey earned third team all-region for Delhi.

Colleen Darby had 21 kills and four blocks for the Broncos and Kristin Tucker had 71 assists, 16 digs and four aces.

Sarah Danelli contributed 50 digs for Delhi (22-11), which went 20-10 in Region III play and 5-0 as the Mountain Valley Conference champions.
