It appears as if Cooperstown boys soccer will be ready for undefeated South Kortright on Saturday.
Two days before the two play for the Chic Walshe Tournament championship, the Redskins routed visiting Sauquoit Valley, 5-0, on Thursday in a Center State Conference Division II game.
"It was a complete turnaround from our first game," said Cooperstown coach Frank Miosek, whose team fell, 4-1, at SV on Sept. 15. "We were prepared. The boys executed exceptionally well, we won all the 50-50 balls, controlled the air and really came ready to play."
The Redskins (8-2, 4-2) will look to maintain that momentum at 2 p.m. Saturday, when they meet defending Section Four Class D champion South Kortright in the Walshe final at Davenport. The Rams improved to 9-0 overall and 5-0 in the Delaware League with a 1-0 victory Thursday at Davenport.
"I have the highest respect for (SK coach) Bobby VanValkenburgh," Miosek said. "It's been a great kind of local rivalry we've played over the years _ just two good teams getting a chance to play each other. We're looking forward to it.
"Plus, Davenport has the best chili around," he continued. "So, I'm looking forward to a good game and some good chili."

Wesley Lippitt scored in the first six minutes for Cooperstown, which also received goals from Andrew Pink, Brandon Lane, Tim Faller and Michael Rowley.
"We were very happy to reverse the score," Miosek said. "We got everybody into the game, too. The first game, my team went there thinking we've beaten them for seven years straight, but we played on turf and were a half-step behind on everything. This time, we were like a different team; we have been lately."
Kevin Huggins earned the shutout with seven saves for the Redskins, who held an 18-10 advantage in shots over Sauquoit Valley (6-1, 5-1).

Damon Gardner scored off an assist from Cody Burns with 12 minutes, 24 seconds left as South Kortright remained undefeated with a Delaware League road win.
Burns crossed a ball from the left side of the 18-yard line to Gardner, who beat Brad Teator (five saves) inside the near post from the right side of the penalty box.
Charlie Darling stopped six shots for the shutout.
"We had quite a few that should have gone in," said Davenport coach Chris Weston, whose team outshot the Rams, 9-7, "but their goalie made a couple of really good saves. We were really well-matched, actually."
The Wildcats (5-4, 4-2) host Worcester in the consolation game of the Chic Walshe Tournament at 10 a.m. Saturday.

Junior Peter Fabrykiewicz scored three goals during a seven-minute span of the second half to spearhead an Andes rally from two goals down in its Delaware League home victory.
Fabrykiewicz has an area-high 18 goals this season.
"He has a knack for being in the right place," Andes coach Adam VanValkenburgh said of Fabrykiewicz, whose goal with 25 minutes, 13 seconds left gave the Mountaineers a 3-2 lead. "The kid is soccer driven. He worked out a lot this summer and he plays year round. He wants to score and he looks to attack. He knows how to finish."
Jacob Pasa scored twice for Jefferson, the first coming with 14:57 left in the first half and the second 37:20 left _ off an assist from Eddie Case _ to make it 2-0.
Two minutes later, Corey Barrett made a steal and then chipped an 18-yard shot into the net to make it 2-1.
With 29:08 to play, Fabrykiewicz split a pair of defenders in the middle of the field before scoring and got the go-ahead goal four minutes later. Eric Reed took an initial shot that deflected off goalie and Fabrykiewicz knocked in the rebound.
Fabrykiewicz then headed in a crossing pass from Eddie Mackay with 22:04 left to make it 4-2.
The Mountaineers (7-1, 5-1) travel to unbeaten South Kortright on Monday.
"In terms of where we are in the standings, it'll be a huge game for both of us," VanValkenburgh said. "I know it will be a hard fought and well played game."

Greg Lehn had a goal and an assist to lead Margaretville to a Delaware League road victory. Cody Fronkowiak, Sam Mendoza, Javier Martinez and Marcus Moore also scored for the Blue Devils, who held advantages of 17-3 in shots and 9-2 in corner kicks.
Sean Abrams scored for the Eagles (1-10, 0-5), who host Hunter-Tannersville at Fleischmann's at 5 p.m. Monday. A girls game between the same schools will follow at 7 p.m. Monday, but H-T will play as the home team.

Michael Turner beat two defenders down the right side and scored inside the far post halfway through overtime to give visiting Schenevus a Tri-Valley League victory.
"He made a couple of nice moves and really made a nice shot to the far post," Milford coach Frank Spurchise said. "The ball caught the post and went in. That's a great shot. You've got to give the kid a lot of credit."
Milford's Andrew Yerdon opened the scoring three minutes into the second half, when he converted a pass from Devon Valtin. Andrew Beams tied it for the Dragons about 11 minutes later on a penalty kick.
"One of our defenders was going for the ball, but he basically took the kid out in the penalty box," Spurchise said of the infraction that set up the pk.
Winning goalie Michael Miner finished with 11 saves. Jeremy Rutledge stopped six shots for the Wildcats (3-7-1, 3-4-1), who host unbeaten Cherry Valley-Springfield on Tuesday.

Greg Talbot scored twice and host Gilbertsville-Mount Upton limited Edmeston to four shots in a Tri-Valley League victory.
Talbot opened the scoring with 12:47 left in the first half. Talbot brought the ball down the left side, lost it momentarily and then it got it back before taking a low shot to the far post.
In the second half, Talbot beat Edmeston's goalie to a bouncing ball at the top of the box and scored from 15 yards into an open net on a left-footed shot.
The Raiders (5-4-2, 3-4-1) travel to Morris on Tuesday.

Justin Utter and Garrett Decker scored first-half goals for visiting Morris, which hung on to win the Tri-Valley League.
Utter's goal was set up by a header pass from Garrett Decker midway through the first half. Eric Smith then took advantage of miscue in Worcester's defensive end and scored 36 seconds before halftime.
Worcester (3-6, 2-5) pulled to a goal when Ken Delvecchio scored on a header off a corner kick from Jordan Allen with 10 minutes left.
"The second half was back and forth," Worcester coach Steve Fancher said. "Each team had real nice ball movement."
The Wolverines play the host school in the consolation of the Chic Walshe Tournament at 10 a.m. Saturday at Davenport.

Andre Coehlo scored on a deflection from close range after a 22-yard direct kick by Sean Callagy with eight minutes left to lift visiting Stamford in the Delaware League.
Callagy tied the score at 1 for the Indians midway through the second half.
Joe Cooper scored on an 18-yard shot midway through the first half for Gilboa (1-8-1, 1-5), which plays host to Hunter-Tannersville a week from today.
