Baseball Hall's Induction Weekend set

The National Baseball Hall of Fame will host a series of special events during its 2010 Hall of Fame Induction Weekend this summer, the Cooperstown shrine announced Thursday.

The inductions of Andre Dawson, Whitey Herzog and Doug Harvey will highlight the July 23-26 weekend of special events. Dawson earned election to the Hall through the Baseball Writers' Association of America ballot. Former manager Herzog and former umpire Harvey were Veterans Committee selections.

The three will be inducted at 1:30 p.m. July 25 at the Clark Sports Center in Cooperstown, bringing the number of Hall of Famers to 292. Admission is free to the 2010 Induction Ceremony, which will be televised on MLB Network.

The ceremony also will honor Bill Madden of the New York Daily News as the 2010 J.G. Taylor Spink Award winner and Jon Miller, the voice of the San Francisco Giants and ESPN's Sunday Night Baseball, as the 2010 Ford C. Frick Award winner.

The Hall also will host the following Hall of Fame Induction Weekend events:

PLAY Ball with Ozzie Smith

1 p.m. July 23 at Doubleday Field

Hall of Famer Ozzie Smith and his special Hall of Fame guests will participate in a two-hour program to benefit the museum's educational programs. Tickets are required.

Connecting Generations

11 a.m. July 24 at Clark Sports Center

Trivia contest provides audience the chance to face off against members of the Hall of Fame family. Participating Hall of Famers will be announced soon. Tickets are required.

NY-Penn League Game

1 p.m. July 24 at Doubleday Field

The Connecticut Tigers will play the Tri-City ValleyCats in the annual New York-Penn League Hall of Fame Weekend game. The Connecticut Tigers used to be the Oneonta Tigers, who are planning to move to Dodd Stadium in Norwich, Conn., this summer. Admission is free and tickets are not required.

Parade of Legends

6 p.m. July 24 Main Street in Cooperstown

Hall of Famers will participate in a parade that will start on upper Main Street and end at the front steps of the museum for a Red Carpet Arrival Ceremony. Admission is free and tickets are not required.

Plaque Installation

7 p.m. July 25 at Baseball Hall

The Hall will install the newest plaques in its Plaque Gallery. Regular museum admission is required to attend.

New Inductees Roundtable

10:30 a.m. July 26 at Clark Sports Center

Dawson, Herzog and Harvey will share memories from the weekend and their baseball careers during a live discussion for this event, which requires tickets and is open only to museum members.

The Hall also will maintain the following special hours of operation during Hall of Fame Weekend: 8 a.m.-9 p.m. July 23; 8 a.m.-5 p.m. July 24; and 8 a.m.-9 p.m. July 25.
