Levi Decker scored a game-high 17 points Thursday to lead host Morris to a 51-27 non-league boys basketball victory over Davenport in the season opener for both teams.
Decker scored 11 of his 17 points in the first half, which ended with the Mustangs ahead, 24-9.
Mike DeLuca contributed a double-double of 14 points and a team-high 10 rebounds for Morris, which hosts Cherry Valley-Springfield on Dec. 11.
Josh Davi’s eight points paced Davenport.
CV-S 45, Roxbury 35
Kyle Jaquay and Isiah Montgomery scored a 15 points apiece to share game-high honors, leading Cherry Valley-Springfield to a first-round victory in the Anton Remy Tournament at Milford.
Montgomery also grabbed a team-best 10 rebounds for the Patriots (1-0), who play tournament host Milford in the second round Saturday.
Dakota Caronia scored a team-high 12 points to pace Roxbury, which received 10 points from Spencer Hinkley.
Oxford 54, Edmeston 41
Andrew Golden scored a game-high 35 points Wednesday to lead host Oxford to a non-league victory at home.
“He’s a real good player,” Edmeston coach Darrin Belden said of the Blackhawks 6-foot-5 senior center. “We stayed with him early, but we couldn’t stop him. We had a couple of guys get into foul trouble and they got away from us.”
Golden also made two three-pointers and shot 7-for-10 from the foul line.
Oxford led, 10-9, after one quarter but went on a 21-11 run in the second period.
Logan Vibbard, Linton Wainwright and Brandon Fallon scored eight points apiece for Edmeston (0-1), which hosts Brookfield today.
