Sidney golfer earns first ace
Sidney resident Tim McNamara, 49, hit his first hole-in-one Aug. 4 during a family outing at the par-71 Stonegate Golf Course in Leonardsville.
McNamara used a pitching wedge to sink his tee shot on the 100-yard, par-3 12th hole, which is a dropoff hole. Mike McNamara and Bill Hunter witnessed the shot.
Milford sports meeting Wednesday
The Milford Central School District will hold a mandatory parent/athlete meeting for students wishing to play modified, junior varsity or varsity sports during the 2012-2013 academic year at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the American Legion.

New Lisbon to host cycling event
The Upper Susquehanna Pedalers and Paddlers will co-host the Butternut Valley Time Trial on Saturday in New Lisbon.
Online registration at bikereg.com/Net/16772 closes at 6 p.m. Thursday. Raceday registration will not be accepted. Sign-ins and number pick-ups will start around noon Saturday.
The race begins and ends at 3537 State Highway 51. A route profile is available online at ridewithgps.com/routes/120408.
Riders must be USA Cycling members to participate. One-day licenses may be purchased for $10 apiece.

Oneonta fishing derby set for Saturday
The Susquehanna Bass Association and the City of Oneonta will co-host the 55th annual Fishing Derby for youths ages 5-15 at 4 p.m. Saturday at Hodges Pond in Neahwa Park. Participants must have their own poles, bait/lures and clean buckets to carry their catches during the free catch-and-release competition.
Parents/guardians must complete a registration/release form for youths who wish to fish and may pre-register at the recreation office by Hodges Pond during regular business hours.
Event-day registration will begin at 3 p.m. The derby, which will last an hour, will follow.

Delhi basketball ends Saturday
The Delaware County Community Action Network will conclude its annual Bald Eagle basketball skills clinic and tournament from 4-6:30 p.m. Saturday at Delhi's Clark Court.

OCC to host tournament Saturday
The Oneonta Country Club will host the 20th annual Hughson-Benson Associates/Mang Insurance Group Firemen's Invitational Golf Tournament on Saturday.
Sponsorship money will be awarded to the winning fire department and cash prizes will be given for the best shots on specific holes.

Golf event Saturday at Colonial Ridge
Colonial Ridge Golf in Laurens will host the John Dodge Memorial Captain and Crew at 8 a.m. Saturday.
Cost is $25 per person and includes prize money, skins and pin shots. The event is open to the public and features a 100-percent cash payout. All proceeds benefit the Morris Episcopal Church.

Ouleout to host golf event Saturday
The Headwaters Charity Golf Tournament will start at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Ouleout Creek Golf Course.

The club also is accepting hole sponsors, raffle-prize donations and monetary donations. All proceeds benefit the Headwaters Soccer Camp Series.

Hall to host road races Saturday
The National Baseball Hall of Fame and the Clark Sports Center will host two road races _ a 5-kilometer family fun run and a 10K competitive run _ at 10 a.m. Saturday.
The races will start at the CSC and serve as the foundation for the launch of the Hall's new education program, "Be A Superior Example." The BASE races are designed to introduce the concepts of healthy lifestyle choices to a worldwide audience, educating students about the dangers of performance-enhancing substances.
Proceeds from the fundraiser will be used to expand the outreach of the BASE program.
Registration is $25 for adults and $50 for families in advance. Raceday registrations will cost $10 more.

Gun show set for Sunday in Unadilla
The Midstate Arms Collectors and Shooters Club will host the Unadilla Gun Show and Flea Market from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Sunday at the Unadilla Rod & Gun Club.

Hall to hold blood drive Sunday
The National Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown will host a blood drive from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Sunday in Cooper Park. The event will take place in a Red Cross bloodmobile adjacent to the Hall.
Donors will receive free admission to the museum Sunday. Those who have not donated within the last 56 days of Aug. 12 are eligible to participate Sunday.

Unatego practices start Monday
Unatego will open varsity sports practices for the 2012 fall season at the following times Monday.
Football, 8 a.m.-noon at Unatego.
Girls soccer, 8-11 a.m. at Unatego.
Boys soccer, 8-11 a.m. at Otego Elementary.
Volleyball 10 a.m.-noon at Unatego.
Athletes must have an up-to-date physical and an updated health-history form to participate.
Schenevus varsity soccer starts Monday
Varsity soccer practices at Schenevus begin Monday. The girls will practice from 5-7 p.m. and the boys from 6-8 p.m.
Each student must have a current physical along with the proper forms (health interval, permission for medical treatment and athletic contract) to participate. Forms are available on the school's webpage and at the main office (8 a.m.-3 p.m. weekdays).
Those without the proper paperwork who plan to play may not practice but should attend.
