Delhi Pee Wee signups today
Signups for the Delhi Pee Wee Football season will run from 5:30-6:30 p.m. today at the Clark Companies main office on Route 10.
Entry fee is $25 and is due at signups. All players must be at least age 8 as of Dec. 1, 2012, and cannot be age 13 as of Sept. 1, 2012.

Oneonta football camp starts today
Oneonta City School District students in grades 7-12 are invited to attend the 2012 Oneonta Yellow Jacket Football Camp from 1-3:30 p.m. today through Friday and Aug. 6-7.
The camp is run by the OHS football coaches, OHS alumni who have gone to play college football and area coaches. The non-contact camp will be held at OHS' Lloyd Baker Field and costs $15 per athlete, which includes a T-shirt, drinks, and a barbecue lunch on the final day. Campers are urged to bring spikes.

Gilbert Lake Swim set for Saturday
The Oneonta Family YMCA will host the fourth annual Gilbert Lake Swim on Saturday. Check-in begins at 8:30 a.m.

Basketball clinic to run Saturday
The Clark Sports Center will host a basketball clinic from 9 a.m.-noon Saturday for students entering grades 2-8 this fall.
Cost is $15 for CSC members and $30 for non-members. Veteran high school coach Charlie Hage will run the clinic with the help of CSC counselors, college and high school players.

Tennis tournament opens Monday
The 33rd annual Volkswagen Open Tennis Tournament runs Monday through Aug. 10 at the George R. Waddington Tennis Courts in Oneonta's Wilber Park.
The single-elimination tournament will feature play in men's singles and doubles, women's singles and doubles, and mixed doubles.
Entry forms are available online at oneonta.ny.us/recreation and at the Brenner Recreation Building in Neahwa Park. Tournament registration fee is $10 and covers entry in all eligible divisions. Entry deadline is 5 p.m. Thursday. Entries must be accompanied with payment (check or money order only) made out to the City of Oneonta.

Hall's BASE Race set for Aug. 11
The National Baseball Hall of Fame and Clark Sports Center will sponsor a 5-kilometer family fun run and a 10K competitive run Aug. 11. The races will serve as a foundation for the national launch weekend of the Hall's BASE initiative, which will introduce the concepts of healthy lifestyle choices to a worldwide audience and educate students about the dangers of performance-enhancing substances. Proceeds from the fundraiser will be used to expand the outreach of the BASE program.
Both BASE races will start and end at the Clark Sports Center. Registration is $25 for adults and $50 for families until July 15. New Lisbon to host cycling event
The Upper Susquehanna Pedalers and Paddlers will co-host the Butternut Valley Time Trial on Aug. 11 in New Lisbon.
Online registration at bikereg.com/Net/16772 closes at 6 p.m. Aug. 9. Raceday registration will not be accepted. Sign-ins and number pick-ups will start around noon Aug. 11.

Riders must be USA Cycling members to participate. One-day licenses may be purchased for $10 apiece.

Next Authors Series event Aug. 14
The National Baseball Hall of Fame will continue its Authors Series at 1 p.m. Aug. 14 in the Bullpen Theater.
The series features special lectures and book signings and is included with regular museum admission.
The Aug. 14 installment is "Fenway Park: The Centennial" by Saul Wisnia.
The series closes at 1 p.m. Aug. 28 with "Fenway Park: A Salute to the Coolest, Cruelest, Longest-Running Major League Baseball Stadium in America" by John Powers and Ron Driscoll.

The Goodyear Lake Polar Bear 5K Walk/Run will begin at 10:15 a.m. Aug. 18 on Krol Field in Milford.

Oneonta Little League is offering a bus trip to Citi Field in New York on Aug. 25, when the Mets host the Houston Astros.
Tickets cost $65 per person and include admission to the game and bus transportation to and from the stadium by Eastern Travel. Alcohol is prohibited.

Oneonta youth football signups Aug. 27
Oneonta Youth Football signups, check-in and equipment distribution for all players will be held Aug. 27 at the Sixth Ward Booster Club playground.
Signups and check-in for players ages 8-9 run from 5:15-6:15 p.m., followed by ages 10-12 from 6:15-7:15 p.m.
Players must be age 8 by Dec. 1, 2012, and cannot turn 13 before Sept. 1, 2012. Birth certificates and a $25 insurance fee are due at signups.

Golf tournament set for Aug. 29
Otsego and Delaware County Retired Teachers' Associations will host the third annual Not Going Back-to-School Golf Tournament on Aug. 29 at Colonial Ridge Golf in Laurens.
All retired educators, school staff and their friends are invited to play in the captain-and-crew tournament, which opens with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. Lunch will be served at 1 p.m.
Cost is $37 and includes 18 holes, a cart, prizes and lunch. Colonial Ridge members will pay $27. Lunch only costs $13.
