Mark Giallanzo threw a one-hitter, and Ben Moxley had four hits and four RBIs to lead Oneonta High to a 13-0 Southern Tier Athletic Conference baseball victory over visiting Norwich on Wednesday.
Giallanzo allowed a one-out single to center by Dennis Oralls in the first inning. Norwich's other baserunners came on three walks.
"He had a good, lively fastball and it got livelier as the game went on," OHS coach Joe Hughes said of Giallanzo, who struck out 10. "He mixed in his curve and his change, and he kept them off balance for the most part."
The Yellowjackets (10-2, 6-0) scored twice off of losing pitcher Justin Lindenthaler in the first inning. With two outs, Sean Getman singled and went to third on Zach Pidgeon's double. Both runners scored on Mike Calkins' two-run double down the right-field line.
Pidgeon also tripled and David Wright had two hits for the Yellowjackets, who have won 16 straight league games dating to last season.
Hughes said Oneonta's twice rained-out game against Seton Catholic will be made up at noon May 12 at NYSEG Stadium.
"It was not a bad rainout after the emotional game win Monday," Hughes said of Tuesday's rainout against SCC after a 9-8, 10-inning win over Johnson City on Monday. "We had a practice yesterday and guys rested a little bit and then we were right back at it and had some good at-bats early in the game. We knocked out 13 hits and had no errors, so it was a good game."
OHS center fielder Chris Pindar has a sore groin and did not play Wednesday, but Hughes said he'll be back Friday, when OHS travels to Owego.
