Two second-half goals by Lily Stalter _ both set up by Jordan Beers _ allowed host Franklin to rally for a 2-1 Tri-Valley League girls soccer victory over Gilbertsville-Mount Upton on Tuesday.
Stalter tied the score at 1 18 1/2 minutes into the second half on a penalty kick after Beers was tackled in the penalty box.
"I don't watch," Franklin coach J.J. Laing said when asked which side Stalter went to on the penalty kick. "Every time I watch, we miss."
With 9:49 remaining, Stalter received a pass from the left wing from Beers, beat a defender and scored on a 15-yard shot.
"They kind of took it to us in the beginning," Laing said of G-MU, which took a 1-0 on Miranda Hill's 25-yard that ducked under the cross bar 5 minutes into play. "They came to play and caught us back on our heels."
Laing said G-MU pressured over the final 5-6 minutes but couldn't get one past Haley Downin, who made 11 saves.
"She controls the box," Laing said of Downin. "She gets to balls before they become problems."
