C.J. Kemler scored with 41 seconds remaining in regulation as Jefferson earned a 1-1 boys soccer tie against Roxbury in the second round of the Stamford Mayor's Cup on Saturday.
The J-Hawks advanced to the championship by winning the penalty-kick shootout, 4-3.
On the fifth and final kick, Tyler Dibble snapped a 3-all tie by scoring for Jefferson, which also received goals in the shootout from Ryan VanLooy, Jacob Pasa and Kemler. Dibble also played goalie during the round and stopped two shots.
Kevin Lutz, Kyle Ciaravino and Dakota Coronia converted penalty kicks for Roxbury.
Roxbury (1-0-1) took the lead in regulation when Dan Menne scored with 26 minutes, 28 seconds remaining.
He got inside the defense and dribbled past goalie John Cammer to shoot into an open net from about 6 yards.
The J-Hawks (1-0-1) sent it to overtime with Kemler's late goal.
Kemler got possession on the left side about 40 yards out. He dribbled in and shot it to the far post from inside the 18.
"It was a very good game," Jefferson coach Rick Cammer said. "The last 15 minutes or so we started pressuring more and were knocking on the door. ... We managed to get one in the net with 41 seconds left."
Cammer credited both sweepers _ Jefferson's Stephen Schmitt and Roxbury's Jacob Liberatore _ for keeping things tight.
"They played very good ball," Cammer said. "They probably made the difference in why the score was lower. They were both dominant."
Jefferson plays at Downsville today and meets South Kortright in the Mayor's Cup final at 8 p.m. Saturday.

Andes senior Peter Fabrykiewicz had three goals and one assist to lead South Kortright to victory in the second round of the Stamford Mayor's Cup.
Schenevus briefly tied the score at 2 on a direct kick from about 25 yards by Kevin Weinert, who scored to the far post from the right side with 10 minutes gone in the second half.
About two minutes later, Fabrykiewicz set up Cody Burns for the first of his two goals. Burns scored from 16 yards on the left wing on a hard shot to give the Rams a 3-2 lead. Fabrykiewicz then scored on a breakaway before Burns capped the scoring.
"He's got excellent footskills," SK coach Bob VanValkenburgh said of Fabrykiewicz, who led area players in goals (26) and points (59) for Andes last season. Andes did not have enough players to field a team this season, so a handful of players are playing for the Rams. "He's very good in traffic. He maintains good possession and has good composure around the goal."
Tyler Morris also scored for Schenevus, which received 10 saves from Mike Miner.
SK (2-0) travels to Windham on Wednesday and then plays Jefferson in the Mayor's Cup final at 8 p.m. Saturday.

Ehrhart finished with three goals and two assists. Ehrhart and Kim Freer had early goals as the Indians took a 2-0 lead 2:12 into play.

About three minutes later, Ehrhart scored from close range to give the Indians the lead for keeps. Ehrhart scored again 35 seconds before halftime off an assist from Erin Hull.
