Two second-half goals by Lily Stalter _ both set up by Jordan Beers _ allowed host Franklin to rally for a 2-1 Tri-Valley League girls soccer victory over Gilbertsville-Mount Upton on Tuesday. Stalter tied the score at 1 18 1/2 minutes into the second half on a penalty kick after Beers was tackled in the penalty box.
HIGH SCHOOL BOYS SOCCER ... Corey Forgit scored on a direct kick from about 20 yards with 2 minutes, 38 seconds remaining as host Morris tied Schenevus, 1-1, in Tri-Valley League boys soccer Tuesday. The Mustangs had a 19-3 advantage in shots.
MEN'S COLLEGE SOCCER ... Hartwick's men watched a two-goal lead evaporate in a span 3 minutes, 40 seconds of the second half in losing a non-conference Division I soccer game, 3-2, at Cornell on Monday night.
COLLEGE ROUNDUP ... Sidney graduate Kyle Morenus threw three touchdown passes to Jordan Wilkins and visiting Hartwick College opened the season with a 31-20 non-conference football victory over Morrisville State on Saturday.
HIGH SCHOOL SOCCER ... C.J. Kemler scored with 41 seconds remaining in regulation as Jefferson earned a 1-1 boys soccer tie against Roxbury in the second round of the Stamford Mayor's Cup on Saturday. The J-Hawks advanced to the championship by winning the penalty-kick shootout, 4-3.
HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL ... Corbin Curley scored on a 29-yard pass from Dylan Umbra with 27 seconds remaining as visiting Sidney rallied for a 28-24 season-opening non-division Section Four Football Conference victory at Walton on Saturday.
HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL ... WELLS BRIDGE _ Delhi's backfield made a strong first impression Friday night. Holdover Jack Fletcher and newcomers Tom Telian and Collin Ellis combined for 287 of Delhi's 375 rushing yards as the Bulldogs opened the Section Four Football Conference season with a 42-7 non-division victory over host Unatego on a hot and sticky night.
HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL ... Two big returns, a 62-yarder on a kickoff by Anthony Delgado and a 36-yard punt return by Taharen Williams, set up fourth-quarter touchdowns as Oneonta High won its season opener, 40-27, at Greene on Friday in a non-division Section Four Football Conference game.
HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL _ COOPERSTOWN ... Alec Silvera pretty much picked up right where he left off. The reigning Daily Star Player of the Year for high school football, senior running back Silvera rushed for 188 yards and three touchdowns Friday night as Cooperstown opened its season with a 33-8 Section Three rout of host Mohawk.
HIGH SCHOOL ROUNDUP ... Oneonta High shared the wealth Friday as six boys soccer players earned points in a 3-0 Southern Tier Athletic Conference victory at Chenango Valley.
HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL ... Don't let Mother Nature fool you. Despite recent 90-degree weather in the area, high school football season is set to begin with four games involving area teams at 7 tonight.

HIGH SCHOOL SOCCER ROUNDUP ... Jordan Beers scored twice and Haley Downin stopped 15 shots as visiting Franklin earned a 3-0 Tri-Valley League girls soccer victory over Edmeston on Thursday. Beers started the scoring a little less than four minutes into the second half and made it 2-0 about 11 minutes later. Jessica Terrano set up Beers' second goal with a cross.
