The MLB Pitch, Hit & Run local qualifier in Oneonta and the Oneonta Recreation Department's Sandlot Day were postponed last Friday because of rain.
Both events have been rescheduled for 5-8 p.m. today at Ted Christman Field in Neahwa Park.

Pee-Wee football sign-ups Saturday
Oneonta Pee-Wee Football sign-ups for youths ages 8-12 will run from 9-11 a.m. Saturday at Riverside Elementary.
Players must be age 8 by Dec. 1, 2011 and cannot turn 13 before Sept. 1, 2011. Youths who are age 12 and past sixth grade may not participate.
Players also must live or attend school in Oneonta. Birth certificates and a $25 insurance fee are required at registration.

Center to host run Saturday
The Richfield Springs Community Center will host the RSCC Run at 10 a.m. Saturday.
The event, which starts on Lake Street, features a 10-kilometer run, a 5K run and a 2-mile walk and is part of the Route 20 Series.
Registration runs from 8-9:45 a.m. May 7 at the VFW. Registration is $18 for adults and $16 for students the day of the event.
Proceeds will benefit the Richfield Springs Community Center, and $1 of each registration will go to breast cancer research.

World Series trophy coming to Hall
The San Francisco Giants' 2010 World Series trophy will make a special appearance at the National Baseball Hall of Fame on Saturday and Sunday, when the Cooperstown shrine will host its annual World Series Weekend.
The Hall will highlight the franchise's first Series title in San Francisco with two days of special programs and events. The World Series trophy will be on display in the Hall during regular hours.
The Hall will offer a Giants-related museum tour at 10 a.m., 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. each day, as well as special presentations featuring artifacts from Giants history at 11:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. and Giants Trivia in the Bullpen Theater at noon. All programs are included with regular admission.
The Hall's Autumn Glory exhibit, a tribute to the 2010 postseason, includes several items from the World Series, which the Giants won, four games to one, over the Texas Rangers for the franchise's first crown since 1954.
Among the items on display are the bat World Series MVP Edgar Renteria used to hit his winning home run in Game 5; the road jersey worn by Game 5 starter Tim Lincecum; Cody Ross' batting helmet; and the caps worn by pitchers Madison Bumgarner and Matt Cain.

Big Wheels golf tourney May 13
The annual Big Wheels Golf Tournament is set for May 13 at the Delhi College Golf Course.
Entry fee is $55, which includes greens fees for 18 holes, cart, guaranteed prizes and a post-tournament dinner.

Golf event scheduled for May 14
Catholic Charities of Delaware and Otsego Counties will hold its third annual golf tournament at 12:30 p.m. May 14 at the Oneonta Country Club.

United Way golf tourney seeks teams
The United Way of Delaware and Otsego Counties is accepting teams for its second annual golf tournament, a captain-and-crew fundraiser that will start at 12:30 p.m. May 20 at the Ouleout Creek Golf Course in Franklin.
Registration and lunch will begin at 11:30 a.m. May 20. Cost is $260 per foursome.
Prizes will be awarded to the first-, second-, and third-place teams. The event also will feature a hole-in-one competition, a 50/50 raffle and a skins game.

Hartwick offering swim lessons
Hartwick College's swimming and diving teams is offering swimming lessons through May 22 at Moyer Pool.
Cost is $15 for a 30-minute lesson, which features one-on-one instruction from a Hartwick team member.
Half-hour lessons will be available during the following time frames: Monday-Thursday, 3-4:30 p.m. and 7:30-8:30 p.m.; Friday, 3-3:30 p.m. and 6:30-8:30 p.m.; Sunday, 2-6 p.m.

Adult baseball league starts soon
The Leatherstocking Baseball League is accepting registrations for its upcoming season, which starts later this month and runs until early August.
This men's league features six teams from the Oneonta, Laurens, Milford and Cooperstown areas.
Men ages 22 and older may join, regardless of skill level. Games are played weekly and are umpired by professionals.
Each player must pay a fee to cover insurance, field costs, equipment and umpires.

Hall of Famers to appear May 28
National Baseball Hall of Famers Rod Carew, Reggie Jackson, Joe Morgan and Cal Ripken will participate in the May 28 opening of a permanent exhibit at the Cooperstown museum, the shrine announced Wednesday.
One for the Books: Baseball Records and the Stories Behind Them is an interactive exhibit that will open in the Hank Aaron Gallery. It will feature more than 200 artifacts that help explore the stories behind records such as Cy Young's 511 victories, Ripken's 2,632 consecutive games played and Joe DiMaggio's 56-game hitting streak.
Special museum programming will be held throughout the day as well, including a Voices of the Game installment featuring Carew, Jackson, Morgan and Ripken. Tickets are required for the Voices event and will be first available to museum members May 2 at $10 for adults and $5 for children (12 and younger).
Other special programs May 28 will be included with regular Hall admission.

Delhi Covered Bridge Run is back
The Delhi Covered Bridge Run is set for June 4.
The charity event, which took a break last year, features a 5-kilometer health walk, a 5K run and a 10K run.

Softball tourney June 4 in Delhi
The inaugural Delaware County Corrections Local 3952 Softball Tournament Plus will begin at 8 a.m. June 4 at the American Legion Field in Delhi.
Cost is $150 per team for the single-elimination tournament, which will be one of many activities. Breakfast, lunch and dinner will be available. The event also will feature crafts, vendors, children's games, a bake sale, a silent auction, 50-50 raffles and music.
Proceeds will help the Delhi Pool Fund, among others.

Soccer Hall inductions June 4
The 2011 National Soccer Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony is set for noon June 4 at Patriot Place in Foxborough, Mass., U.S. Soccer announced in April.
Cobi Jones, Eddie Pope, Earnie Stewart, Bruce Murray and Bob Gansler will be honored during the invitation-only ceremony, which will take place before a soccer "friendly" between the U.S. Men's National Team and Spain at Gillette Stadium.
The June 4 Induction Ceremony will mark the second straight year the event has not been held in Oneonta. The Soccer Hall closed its Oneonta facility in September of 2009.
Registration open for triathlon
Registration is open for the inaugural Cannonsville Adventure Triathlon, which is slated for June 5.
The race at the Cannonsville Reservoir in the towns of Deposit, Tompkins and Hancock will feature a 6.2-mile run, a 3.9-mile paddle and a 12-mile bike ride.
A pre-race meeting is scheduled for 8 a.m. June 5 in Deposit. Participants will be shuttled to the starting line, which is just east of the Roods Creek launch site. The race will start with the run at 10 a.m.
Participants must be at least age 18 by the day of the race. Registration costs $70 for an individual and $150 for a team. Registration will be online only at the IMAthlete website, www.imathlete.com.

OFO River Ride set for June 5
The Opportunities for Otsego River Ride, a cycling event that begins and ends at Neahwa Park in Oneonta, is set for June 5.
Riders may choose to follow one of five routes along the Susquehanna River Valley. The routes range from 11 to 46 miles.
Entry fee is $35. Sign-ins will run from 7:45-8:45 a.m. at the skate house.

Fox Golf Classic set for June 6
The 12th annual A.O. Fox Hospital Golf Classic is set for June 6 at the Oneonta Country Club.
The captain-and-crew fundraiser has raised more than $350,000, which has been used to purchase a variety of medical equipment, over the last 11 years and draws between 180 and 200 participants each year.
Winners will receive a trophy and have their names engraved on the Dr. Lusins trophy, which is on display at the FoxCare Center.
Golfers will compete in the morning or the afternoon. Spots are still available for the morning round. A late-afternoon buffet dinner follows at the Foothills Performing Arts Center, with prizes awarded for both flights.
The event will feature awards for longest drives, straightest drives and closest-to-the-pin on par-3s, as well as a hole-in-one contest for a new car.
Sponsorships are still available as well. Raffle and silent auction donations will be accepted.

Women's handgun training June 11
The Oneonta Sportsmen's Club will sponsor Women on Target from 8 a.m.-3 p.m. June 11 at its facility at 251 Rod and Gun Club Road in Oneonta.
Cost is $35 for this event, which is an introduction to handgun shooting with about four hours of classroom lecture and two-to-three hours on the range. Hall of Famers to speak June 18
Tickets for the National Baseball Hall of Fame's June 18 Voices of the Game program are on sale.
The event, which is part of Hall of Fame Classic Weekend, will feature Hall of Famers Andre Dawson, Goose Gossage, Phil Niekro, Tony Perez, Jim Rice, Ozzie Smith and Dick Williams at 6 p.m. June 18.

Headwaters to hold soccer series
The 22nd annual Headwaters Summer Camp Series for area youth soccer players will begin with the Volkswagen of Oneonta Camp, which runs June 27-July 1 at Otego Elementary.

The 2011 Chenango County Pigskin Classic is accepting applications for its 7-on-7 youth football tournament, which runs Aug. 5-7 in North Norwich.
