Hartwick College shot 61 percent from the floor, 63 percent from three-point range and 79 percent from the free throw line in the second half en route to a 71-56 ECAC quarterfinal women’s basketball victory at Staten Island on Wednesday.
The second-seeded Hawks (20-8) outscored No. 7 Staten Island, 44-31, after halftime.
Maria Foglia had 23 points, nine rebounds and four assists to lead Hartwick. She went 4-for-6 from three-point range in helping the Hawks finish 7-for-12 from behind the arc.
Brittney Dumas contributed 16 points and 10 rebounds.
Hartwick started to pull away when Foglia hit a three-pointer with 10:46 left that gave the Hawks a 50-43 lead. Two free throws by Carlee Hirt made it 52-43.
Staten Island (16-12) never got closer than six thereafter.
Hartwick will play third-seeded Rutgers-Camden in a semifinal Saturday at top-seeded Brooklyn College. The championship will be Sunday at Brooklyn.
