Football fundraiser set for Saturday

The Tri-Valley Colts youth football program will host a Chinese auction and spaghetti dinner Saturday at the Morris Fire Department.

The event is a fundraiser to support the Colts, who are attempting to create a fall football league for youths ages 8-18.

Players ages 8-12 from Davenport, Laurens, Milford and Morris have competed for the Colts in the Greater Oneonta Football Association, but they will not return to the league next season.

Colts representative Mindy Sparaco said the team has joined a squad from Richfield Springs in forming the Boys of Fall Football League, which is seeking interest from other area programs. Saturday's fundraiser will go toward the $20,000 the Colts need to purchase equipment for players ages 12-18, she said.

For more information, call Sparaco at 607-263-2021 or 607-437-9450 or email her at tanjoe@frontiernet.net.

A non-refundable tryout fee of $25, which will cover AAU registration and expenses, is required at registration. The player-participation fee is $300 per person and covers the cost of tournament player registrations and uniforms. The latter fee is due upon a player's selection on the second day of tryouts.
