Football registration continues today

Cooperstown Youth Football will hold sign-ups from 4:30-6 p.m. today at the Clark Sports Center.

Junior division players must turn 8 before Dec. 1. Senior division players must be younger than 13 as of Sept. 1. Players from Milford, Cherry Valley and Springfield are welcome to play.

A copy of the child's birth certificate is required at registration. For more information, call Mike Perrino at 607-437-6074.

HOF Classic Weekend starts Friday

The National Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown will host a series of events during the fourth annual Hall of Fame Classic Weekend.

Saturday's exhibition game at Doubleday Field will feature Hall of Famers Bert Blyleven, Carlton Fisk, Eddie Murray, Phil Niekro, Tony Pérez and Ozzie Smith, as well as several other former major leaguers. The guest list for the latter includes Jesse Barfield, Brian Boehringer, Will Cunnane, Ben Davis, John Doherty, Darrell Evans, Brian Fisher, Todd Haney, Jim Hannan, Phil Huffman, Howard Johnson, Jack Lazorko, Rob Mackowiak, Russ Ortiz, Dennis Rasmussen, Desi Relaford, Shane Reynolds, Jon Warden, Rick Wise and Dmitri Young.

The weekend begins with the Legends for Youth Skills Clinic at 4 p.m. Friday at Doubleday Field. Former major leaguers will offer free instruction to players ages 5-12. Advanced registration is required by calling 607-547-0397.

The Cooperstown Game Day Parade down main street will start at noon Saturday, followed by the Legends Hitting Contest at 1 p.m. at Doubleday Field.

The Classic starts at 2 p.m. Saturday, with a Father's Day Voices of the Game edition featuring Blyleven, Fisk, Murray, Niekro, Pérez and Smith to follow from 7-8 p.m. at Doubleday.

Classic tickets ($12.50 first- and third-base seats, $11 outfield seats) are on sale online at baseballhall.org or by calling 1-866-849-7770.

Voices of the Game tickets ($10 adults, $5 children under 12) are available by calling 607-547-0397.

All six Hall of Famers will participate in the Cooperstown Golf Classic, which begins at 7 a.m. Sunday at the Leatherstocking Golf Course. Six teams of four players and a Hall of Fame captain will compete in the scramble, which serves as a fundraiser. To reserve a spot, call 607-547-0310.

Doubleday Field also will host the annual Family Catch and Kids Run the Bases from 9-11 a.m. Sunday. To reserve a spot for this free event, call 607-547-0397.

Worcester awards set for Friday

Worcester Central will host it's annual athletic awards ceremony at 6:30 p.m. Friday in the school cafeteria. Light refreshments will be available.

Fall soccer deadline is Friday

Registration forms for the Oneonta Youth Soccer Association's Fall Recreational Program have been distributed throughout the elementary schools in the Oneonta City School District. The forms are also available at Sport Tech in Oneonta.

Deadline to register is Friday.

Unadilla MX events continue in June

The 2012 schedule for Unadilla MX in New Berlin includes the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship Weekend, which will run Aug. 17-19 at the Unadilla Valley Sports Complex.

A District 3 MX event is set for Sunday, followed by the ATV MX National Weekend from July 13-15.

The season will close with the Sept. 15-16 Grand National Cross Country. For more information, visit the website www.unadillamx.com.

Softball tournament set for Sunday

The Otego Little League Fields will host a big ball softball tournament on Sunday to benefit the Komenda family. The tournament will feature youth and adult divisions. Mixed teams (youths and adults) also may enter. Each team should have at least 10 players.

Entry fee is $200 per team. Proceeds will help Trevor Komenda, who was hit by a train Memorial Day Weekend and is recovering at Upstate Hospital in Syracuse, and his family.

Tournament organizers also are accepting donations of food (soda, water, hotdog and hamburger buns, small bags of chips) and items for baskets to raffle off (gift cards, lottery tickets, crafts, etc.).

Morris golf tournament June 23

Colonial Ridge Golf in Laurens will host the third annual Morris Alumni Golf Tournament on June 23.

Registration for the captain-and-crew event, which is open to the public, will take place before the 8 a.m. shotgun start. Cost to enter is $25. Greens fees and cart fees are extra. Proceeds and sponsorships will benefit the Morris Alumni Scholarship Fund.

O-State basketball camp July 9-13

Oneonta State will host the Red Dragon Basketball Camp from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. July 9-13.

The camp is for boys and girls ages 6-17. Cost is $155 per camper and includes a T-shirt and a string bag.

O-State soccer camp starts July 30

The Oneonta State men's soccer team will host its 37th annual summer soccer camps from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. July 30-Aug. 3 at the Wright National Soccer Campus in Oneonta. Head coach Iain Byrne, his staff and players will run the Dragon Camp (ages 6-14) and the Elite Camp (high school players only) for boys and girls.

Cost is $125 per week, with a $10 discount for additional family members. The camps offer free supervision from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. each day.

Chamber golf tourney Aug. 9

The Otsego County Chamber and Country Club Auto Group will host its 26th annual Golf Classic on Aug. 9 at the Oneonta Country Club.

Oneonta Little League bus trip Aug. 25

Oneonta Little League is offering a bus trip to Citi Field in New York on Aug. 25, when the Mets host the Houston Astros.

Tickets cost $65 per person and include admission to the game and bus transportation to and from the stadium by Eastern Travel. Alcohol is prohibited.
