Holdover Jack Fletcher and newcomers Tom Telian and Collin Ellis combined for 287 of Delhi's 375 rushing yards as the Bulldogs opened the Section Four Football Conference season with a 42-7 non-division victory over host Unatego on a hot and sticky night.

HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL ... Two big returns, a 62-yarder on a kickoff by Anthony Delgado and a 36-yard punt return by Taharen Williams, set up fourth-quarter touchdowns as Oneonta High won its season opener, 40-27, at Greene on Friday in a non-division Section Four Football Conference game.

The reigning Daily Star Player of the Year for high school football, senior running back Silvera rushed for 188 yards and three touchdowns Friday night as Cooperstown opened its season with a 33-8 Section Three rout of host Mohawk.

HIGH SCHOOL ROUNDUP ... Jileen Livingston's 6-4, 6-4 victory over Lindsay Avolio at first singles helped host Sidney to a 4-1 Midstate Athletic Conference girls tennis victory over Unadilla Valley in its season opener Thursday.

HIGH SCHOOL SOCCER ROUNDUP ... Jordan Beers scored twice and Haley Downin stopped 15 shots as visiting Franklin earned a 3-0 Tri-Valley League girls soccer victory over Edmeston on Thursday. Beers started the scoring a little less than four minutes into the second half and made it 2-0 about 11 minutes later. Jessica Terrano set up Beers' second goal with a cross.
