Downsville boys upset South Kortright, 1-0

Downsville made the most of its chance Tuesday.

Freshman Colin Norwood scored with 5 minutes, 45 seconds remaining to lead visiting Downsville to a 1-0 Delaware League boys soccer victory over previously unbeaten South Kortright.

Norwood knocked in a rebound off a shot from Dustin Keesler. The Eagles were outshot, 15-5. T.J. Felter made nine saves to earn the shutout for Downsville (5-8), which won its second in a row.

"They came ready to play," said SK coach Bob VanValkenburgh, whose team is 11-1-1 overall and 6-1 in league.

"We had four shots go off the posts," VanValkenburgh said.

Charlie Darling made two saves for South Kortright, which visits Margaretville on Thursday.

Danny Jenkins contributed two goals for the Blue Devils, who outshot the J-Hawks, 24-6.

Cody Fronckowiak had a goal and an assist for Margaretville (10-3, 6-1).

Julius Starr snapped a 1-all tie with 16:39 remaining when he scored off an assist from Jon Lindine as host Windham won in the Delaware League.

Starr finished with a goal and an assist for the Warriors (7-2, 4-1), who received a goal from Will Grunenthal. Zhenya Doolan made eight saves for Windham, which visits Gilboa for a non-league game today.

Josh Bonifacic made 18 saves and Peter Fabrykiewicz headed in a first-half goal off a corner kick by Eric Reed for Andes.

Dylan Outtrim made four saves to earn the shutout for H-T, which visits Roxbury on Thursday.

Mark Utter and Robert Meyerhoff also scored for the Wildcats, who received 11 saves from Christian Hall.

Ryan Skipper had a goal for the Rockets (8-4, 3-3).

Morris (5-7-3, 3-3-2) visits Gilbertsville-Mount Upton on Monday.
