Darryl Burns Jr.'s half-court heave just before the final buzzer fell short as SUNY Cobleskill's men lost, 58-56, to Hostos Community College in a consolation game of the NJCAA Division III basketball Saturday at SUNY Delhi.
Burns' shot was the last for the Fighting Tigers at the NJCAA level. They'll start play as a NCAA Division III school this fall.
All-tournament selection Stanley Francois had eight points and 10 rebounds for Cobleskill, which lost its final two games of the tournament after beating Middlesex, 72-69, in a quarterfinal Thursday. Cobleskill finished fifth in the eight-team tournament.
Hostos, behind a game-high 22 points by all-tournament pick Nicholas Lopez, finished third.
North Lake College (Texas) defeated Joliet Junior College, 73-70, in the final Saturday.
Michael Knight had a team-high 16 points, and teammates Anthony Armstead and Nyquan Bellamy contributed 11 apiece for the Fighting Tigers, who finished the season at 26-8.

Tournament MVP Brian Sanders scored a game-high 23 points to lead North Lake College (Texas) to the NJCAA Division III championship over Joliet Junior College (Ill.).
Back-to-back baskets by Bryant Ross (13 points) and Jamon Wilson gave North Lake a 69-62 lead with about a minute left.
William Bills made a three-pointer with 37.6 seconds to play that narrowed North Lakes' lead to 69-67, but the Wolves would get no closer.
Sanders shot 10-for-16 from the field, including 2-for-2 from three-point range, and had three assists for the Blazers (19-15). All-tournament selection Nathan Pratt contributed 10 points and 11 rebounds for the winners.
All-tournament selection Ryan Owens had 20 points to lead Joliet.

Mitchell Dudley had 14 points to lead Montgomery (26-8). All-tournament pick Edgar Martinez had a game-high 24 points for Springfield (28-7), which finished seventh.
