Miller/Jack's wins men's softball title

Miller Financial/Jack's Pub won its first playoff championship in the Oneonta City Men's Softball League with a 23-16 victory over Ruffino's/OBGC on Thursday at Field 4 in Neahwa Park.

Regular-season champion and top-seeded Miller/Jack's opened the best-of-3 championship series Aug. 7 with an 11-7 defeat of Ruffino's/OBGC, which forced a tiebreaker with a 10-9 win in Game 2 this past Tuesday.

Ruffino's/OBGC entered the playoffs as the No. 2 seed.

Baseball club to play at Doubleday

The Mutual Base Ball Club of New York will play the Bethpage Village All-Stars in a vintage baseball game at 5 p.m. Saturday at Doubleday Field in Cooperstown.

The Mutuals stand first in the Mid-Atlantic Base Ball League's Union Conference.

The Bethpage All-Stars will feature select players from the three teams that play weekly at Old Bethpage Village Restoration _ the Brooklyn Excelsiors, the Manetto Hill Surprise and the Mineola Washingtons. Bethpage also will be captained by 1974 Oneonta State graduate Bill Bogatz.
