Golf event set for Sunday

The Unatego boys basketball team will host a captain-and-crew golf tournament at the Belden Hill Golf Course at 8 a.m. Sunday.

Cost is $50 per person and includes greens fees, cart, lunch and prizes. Proceeds will help fund the team's trip to Orlando, Fla., in December as the Spartans plan to play in a tournament at the Disney Sports Complex.

Trapshoot slated for Sunday

The Gilbertsville Rod & Gun Club will hold an all-day trapshoot at 9 a.m. Sunday. Refreshments will be available.

Hartwick to host summer camps

Hartwick College will host the remaining sports camps this summer.

Girls Field Hockey: Ages 12-18, Sunday through July 29.

Swimming Stroke Technique, Sprint/Distance: Sunday through July 31.

Girls Volleyball: Ages 10-18, Aug. 1-5.

Youth soccer camps continue

The Headwaters Soccer Club will host three more camps for youths ages 7-17 this summer.

Cost to attend one camp is $60 per player. Each participant will receive a T-shirt and a water bottle.

Camps, which are also open to teams, run from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. weekdays.

The Bassett Healthcare Sports Medicine Camp, which will run Aug. 9-13 at Oneonta State, is filled to capacity. The HSC will offer the following camps:

Monday through July 30: New York Central Mutual-Wightman Specialty Woods Camp at Edmeston Central.

Aug. 2-6: NY Power Authority Camp at Mine Kill State Park.

Delhi Pee Wee sign-ups Wednesday

Delhi Pee Wee Football will hold sign-ups for the upcoming season from 5:30-6:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Clark Companies main office on Route 10.

An entry fee of $25 is due at the sign-ups. Players must be at least age 8 on or before Dec. 1 and cannot be 13 on or before Sept. 1.

Pee Wee sign-ups set for Thursday

The Tri-Valley Colts, a Pee Wee football team, will host a sign-up night from 7-9 p.m. Thursday at the Laurens Recreation Center.

The National Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown will continue its Summer Authors' Series on July 30. All programs are free with Museum admission.

Davenport Fire 5K set for July 31

The eighth annual Davenport Fire Department 5K will start at 10 a.m. July 31.

The event will start and finish at Charlotte Valley Central in Davenport, where raceday registration will be accepted from 8:30-9:45 a.m.

Cost is $15 for those who register by July 24 and $20 thereafter. Students can register for $10.

Golf invitational July 31

The First Presbyterian Church of Gilbertsville will host its 10th annual invitational golf tournament at 8 a.m. July 31 at Colonial Ridge Golf in Laurens.

Proceeds will help repair the church's roof. Registration will be held before tee time for the captain-and-crew event, which is open to the public.

Softball fields to be named

The softball fields at Doc Reilly Park in Howes Cave will be named for the late Fred Boreali during a ceremony at noon July 31.

Norwich to host basketball camp

Norwich High and the Norwich Family YMCA will host a basketball camp open to all boys varsity and junior varsity teams July 31.

Cost is $250 for one team or $450 for both teams. Each team will play four games minimum. Games will last 30 minutes each and feature qualified officials.

Golf event slated for Aug. 1

The Oneonta Country Club will host the second annual Richard A. Couch Memorial Golf Tournament on Aug. 1.

Registration and lunch for the captain-and-crew event, which will benefit Habitat for Humanity, runs from 11:30 a.m.-12:45 p.m. The tournament begins at 1 p.m. with a shotgun start and is limited to 20 teams. Players may register as individuals or teams of four. Each golfer will receive a $50 gift certificate. Sponsors are needed for the tournament, which also features a $15,000 prize for a hole-in-one.

O-State to host soccer camps Aug. 2-6

Oneonta State men's soccer coach Iain Byrne, his staff and players will host a summer soccer camp from Aug. 2-6 at the Wright National Soccer Campus in Oneonta.

The Dragon Camp runs from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. daily and is for youths ages 6-14. The Elite Camp runs from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. daily and is for high school players.

O-State to host track meet Aug. 3

The Hurley Heroes Track Club of Oneonta will host its final Twilight Track & Field Meet at 7 p.m. Aug. 3 at Oneonta State.

The meet, which is free and open to the public, will feature competition in the following events.

Ages 14-and-older: 800 meters, mile, 3,000, high jump. Ages 14-and-under: 50 meters. All ages: 100, 200, 400.

Participants should dress appropriately. Selected awards will be presented.

Sport Tech to offer bicycle seminar

Sport Tech in Oneonta will conclude its free, monthly bicycle seminars at 5:30 p.m. Aug. 5. The seminar will focus on simple service and maintenance techniques intended to keep bicycles riding smoothly.

The Gilbert Lake Open Water Swim will start at 9:30 a.m. Aug. 7 at Gilbert Lake State Park in Laurens.

Track meet set for Aug. 9

The third and final track meet of a free summer series in Gilbertsville starts at 7 p.m. Aug. 9.

Races will be held in the 9-and-younger 55 meters and the open 100, 200, 400, 800, 1,500 and 3,000. Competition in the shot put also is scheduled, and other events may be added based on attendance and interest.

The Headwaters Soccer Club will host the second annual Ouleout Creek Charity Golf Tournament at 8 a.m. Aug. 14 to benefit its soccer camp program.

Players can register as individuals or teams for this scramble tournament, which will award the top three teams. Entry fee is $50 and includes greens fees, cart, golf towel and buffet.

O-State to host dinner Aug. 14

Oneonta State will host its annual Dining with Champions on Aug. 14 at Alumni Field House in Dewar Arena.

The event begins with a cash bar at 4:30 p.m., followed by dinner at 6 p.m.

Oneonta Mayor Dick Miller and National Baseball Hall of Fame President Jeff Idelson are among the 45 table hosts.

Flag football tourney to run Aug. 14-15

The second annual Owen Banks Memorial Flag Football Tournament will run Aug. 14-15 at Austin Lincoln Fields in Walton.

Also known as the Bubba Bowl, the charity event will benefit HALos, a not-for-profit bereavement counseling agency. The tournament is open to players ages 18 and older and will feature a division for co-ed "fun teams" this year.
