Registration open for tennis tourney

Registration for the fifth annual Golden Guernsey/Heavens Hands Round Robin Doubles Tennis Tournament will continue through 5 p.m. today.

Men's, women's and mixed-doubles matches are scheduled to run Monday through July 13 at Wilber Park.

Entry forms are available online at oneonta.ny.us/recreation and at the recreation office in Neahwa Park. Completed forms must be dropped off at the recreation office or mailed to Recreation Department, c/o City Hall, 258 Main St., Oneonta, NY 13820.

Cost is $10 per person and must be paid at the time of registration via check or money order payable to "City of Oneonta." For more information, call 607-432-0680.

OBGC softball camp starts Monday

The Oneonta Boys and Girls Club will host a softball camp at Oneonta High from 9-11 a.m. Monday through Wednesday.

OHS varsity softball coach Randy Brockway will run the camp, which is designed for girls entering grades 4-8 and will run rain or shine.

O-State basketball camp opens Monday

Oneonta State will host the Red Dragon Basketball Camp from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Monday through July 13.

The camp is for boys and girls ages 6-17. Cost is $155 per camper and includes a T-shirt and a string bag.

Hall's All-Star Gala set for Tuesday

The National Baseball Hall Fame in Cooperstown will host its annual All-Star Gala on Tuesday.

The Hall will show live television coverage of Major League Baseball's All-Star Game in the Grandstand Theater at 8 p.m. Tuesday. Doors open at 7:30 p.m.

Fans will be treated to hot dogs and ballpark-style snacks, along with a limited-edition, commemorative All-Star Gala button. Scorecards will be distributed to fans, and official All-Star Game programs will be available for purchase.

Tickets are available for museum members and cost $10 for adults and $5 for children. Tickets may be reserved in advance by calling the museum's membership department at 607-547-0397 or by visiting the Hall.

Outlaws baseball clinic Wednesday

The third annual Meet the Outlaws youth baseball clinic will run from 10 a.m.-noon Wednesday at Damaschke Field in Oneonta.

Uniformed Oneonta Outlaws players and coaches will run the clinic, which is for kids ages 5-12. Youths should come dressed to play (hat, mitt, and sneakers or non-metal cleats) and may bring items for autographs.

Bats, balls and all other equipment will be provided by the Oneonta City Recreation Department and the Outlaws. For more information, call the Recreation Office at 607-432-0680.

Hall accepting film entries until July 27

The National Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown is accepting films for its seventh annual Baseball Film Festival, which is scheduled for Sept. 28-30.

Filmmakers may submit their work to be considered for the festival until July 27. Films may be of any length and genre but must have been released within the last five years and feature baseball as a primary or secondary theme.

To submit a film, send three DVD copies to: Manager of Museum Programs, National Baseball Hall of Fame, 25 Main Street, Cooperstown, NY, 13326. Films selected will be screened at the Hall during the festival.

Tickets for each screening are free but must be reserved. Museum members may reserve tickets starting Sept. 4 by calling 607-547-0397. Remaining tickets will be available to the general public starting Sept. 24.

DC amateur golf set for July 13-15

The Delhi College Golf Course will host the 47th annual Delaware County Men's Amateur Golf Tournament from July 13-15.

The tournament features a championship division and five handicap flights and is open to members of Delaware County golf courses and Delaware County residents. Cost to enter is $100.

Applications are available at all Delaware County golf courses or by calling the Delhi College Golf Course at 607-746-4653.

YMCA/Outlaws 5K set for July 18

The Oneonta Family YMCA/Oneonta Outlaws 5K Fun Run will start at 6 p.m. July 18 outside Damaschke Field.

The course will follow the former Tiger Run course and finishes near home plate. All timing will end at 6:40 p.m., 20 minutes before the start of the Outlaws game against Elmira.

O-State to host golf event July 21

The Oneonta State athletics department will hold its second annual Coaches Golf Classic on July 21 at the Oneonta Country Club.

The captain-and-crew event will open with a 1 p.m. shotgun start and award prizes for first, second and third place in two flights. Prizes will be awarded for longest drive and closest to the pin as well.

New Lisbon to host cycling event

The Upper Susquehanna Pedalers and Paddlers will co-host the Butternut Valley Time Trial on Aug. 11 in New Lisbon.

Online registration at bikereg.com/Net/16772 closes at 6 p.m. Aug. 9. Raceday registration will not be accepted. Sign-ins and number pick-ups will start around noon Aug. 11. The race begins and ends at 3537 State Highway 51. A route profile is available online at ridewithgps.com/routes/120408.

Riders must be USA Cycling members to participate. One-day licenses may be purchased for $10 apiece.

Oneonta Little League bus trip Aug. 25

Oneonta Little League is offering a bus trip to Citi Field in New York on Aug. 25, when the Mets host the Houston Astros.

Tickets cost $65 per person and include admission to the game and bus transportation to and from the stadium by Eastern Travel. Alcohol is prohibited.

Outlaws coach offering private lessons

Oneonta Outlaws assistant coach Lou Proietti will run private baseball lessons for players of all ages and skill levels at Damaschke Field this summer.

Proietti also coaches baseball at Georgetown Prep in Maryland. His lessons will focus on hitting, fielding, pitching and throwing.
