Darrell Evans hit 414 home runs during his 21-year major-league career that ended in 1989.
On Saturday, those attending the fourth annual Hall of Fame Classic at 2 p.m. at Doubleday Field will see if the 65-year-old has any pop left in his bat.
The Cooperstown shrine announced Tuesday that Evans will play in the seven-inning exhibition _ one of 22 former big leaguers who'll join Hall of Famers Bert Blyleven, Carlton Fisk, Eddie Murray, Phil Niekro and Ozzie Smith on the field.
Windsor's Joel Bennett also recently was added to the roster. Bennett, a right-handed pitcher, had brief stints in the big leagues with the Philadelphia Phillies and Baltimore Orioles in the late 1990s.
The left-handed hitting Evans, who became the first big-leaguer to hit 40 or more home runs in a season for American and National league teams, joins Murray as Classic participants who hit more than 400 home runs. Murray finished with 504 homers.
The exhibition also will feature five home run champions _ Evans, Murray, Jesse Barfield, Dante Bichette and former New York Mets third baseman Howard Johnson.
Evans, who played first and third base, was a two-time All-Star and played for the 1984 World Series champion Detroit Tigers. He also played for the Atlanta Braves and the San Francisco Giants.
Tickets for the Classic are available at the Museum store or by calling 607-547-0397. They'll also be on sale beginning at 9 a.m. Saturday at the Doubleday Field parking lot. Tickets are $12.50 for first and third base seats, and $11 for outfield seats.
