Unatego girls steal non-league victory

McGraw sets Hancock record for threes in victory

Casey Manzanero had 18 points and 14 rebounds for host Unatego, which got a last-second steal from Kayla Talbot to secure a 33-32 non-league girls basketball victory over Windsor on Monday.

Manzanero hit a two-pointer with 1 minute, 30 seconds left to tie the score at 32. The Spartans (11-5) stopped Windsor on its next two possessions, the latter resulting in a rebound by Marissa Woodard that forced the Black Knights to foul.

Woodard made the second free throw for the final margin with less than a minute to play.

With fouls to give, Unatego drained the clock and gave Windsor 4 seconds for its final play. Talbot then stole the inbounds pass to end it.

Woodard finished with 13 rebounds and seven points for the Spartans, who received six points and five assists from Sarah Mannina.

Gina Suhadolnik's 11 points paced Windsor, which faced a 22-18 deficit at halftime.

Unatego is seeded second for the Midstate Athletic Conference's 1-4 Tournament, which opens Wednesday. The Spartans will host No. 3 seed Oxford following a 5:30 p.m. junior varsity game between the same teams.

Top-seeded Harpursville will host No. 4 Bainbridge-Guilford in Wednesday's other MAC 1-4 semifinal.

Wednesday's winners will meet for the overall MAC championship at 2 p.m. Saturday at Oneonta State.
