Cooperstown basketball will be riding high into the Section Three Class C tournaments as the boys and girls programs will play a doubleheader at home Friday.
Cooperstown's boys (17-1) are seeded first for the Section Three Class C Tournament and have the only first-round bye. The Redskins will host No. 9 Sauquoit Valley (11-7) or No. 8 Tully (14-4) in a sectional quarterfinal at 7:30 p.m. Friday.
SV will visit Tully for a first-round game at 7 p.m. Tuesday. Cooperstown beat Sauquoit Valley, 76-34 and 74-54, during the regular season but has not played Tully.
Cooperstown is the state's third-ranked team in Class C, behind No. 1 Tuckahoe (16-0) of Section One and No. 2 Pine Plains (13-0) of Section Nine.
The sectional tournament's fourth seed _ Syracuse Institute of Technology (15-3) _ is ranked 12th in Class C, followed by third-seeded Beaver River (15-2) at No. 14 and second-seeded Mohawk (17-1) at No. 15.
The Redskins' loss was a 67-55 setback at Albany Academy, the state's ninth-ranked team in Class A, in December.

The winner will advance to a semifinal against No. 6 Lafayette (9-9) or No. 3 Fabius-Pompey (14-4) at a date, time and site to be announced. F-P will host Lafayette in a quarterfinal at 7 p.m. Friday.

The C-1 and C-2 champions will play for the overall Section Three Class C crown at 5 p.m. March 2 at the Carrier Dome.
Cooperstown, which fell to Unatego, Little Falls and Hamilton this season, is the state's 20th-ranked team in Class C. Other state-ranked teams in the C-2 tournament are top-seeded Weedsport (18-0, ranked ninth) and third-seeded Fabius-Pompey (14-4, 13th).
The top two seeds for the C-1 tournament _ Thousand Islands (16-2) and Little Falls (13-5) _ are ranked 14th and 25th, respectively, in the state.
Cooperstown is 1-1 against Center State Conference foe Little Falls this season, following a 51-41 victory in December with a 48-38 loss in January.
