Stamford man sentenced on sexual abuse charges

A Stamford man pleaded guilty to two counts of first-degree sexual abuse in Delaware County Court on Monday. Damien Falconio, 28, was sentenced to five years in prison on each count, to be served concurrently, and eight years’ post-release supervision.

The charges stem from a May 25, 2011, complaint that identified two female victims and two others who have come forward, state police said.

An order of protection was issued to protect the victims.

Falconio was ordered to comply with the sexual offender registry act and pay appropriate charges.

In cases May 15:

• Daniel Joslin, 50, of Hamden, was arraigned on a Delaware County grand jury indictment of two counts of first-degree criminal sexual act, class D felonies, two counts of first-degree rape, class B felonies, first-degree sexual abuse — a class D felony — and sexual conduct against a child, a class B felony.

He was accused of criminal incidents on several occasions during the past decade alleging involvement with several underage victims, Delaware deputies said.

He was remanded to Delaware County jail on $50,000 bail pending further court action.

• Karli Tauss, 25, Huntington, was released on $25,000 bail on charges of first-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a class B felony; possession of a hypodermic needle, a class A misdemeanor; operating a motor vehicle impaired by drugs, an unclassified misdemeanor; and two traffic infractions.

An October trial is scheduled.

• Renee Gill, 31, no address given, pleaded guilty to fourth-degree grand larceny and fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property, both class E felonies.

She was sentenced to five years’ probation and drug court.
