Police lieutenant
given permanent post
The Oneonta Common Council approved business and personnel motions during a recent meeting.
The council authorized the mayor to sign the Federal Equitable Sharing Agreement between the city police department and the Department of Justice to receive a portion of cash, property or proceeds from federal cases. The awards would be used for law enforcement purposes.
Also at the council meeting Tuesday:
* Lt. Douglas Brenner was permanently appointed as police lieutenant at a base salary of $73,800, effective Feb. 6. Brenner, who had been promoted to lieutenant in May, said he took the required Civil Service examination in October and passed.
* Andrew Feudi was appointed as a call firefighter at $11 an hour, effective Feb. 6, subject to completion of Civil Service requirements.
* Muga Katoke was appointed to the Commission on Community Relations and Human Rights to fill an unexpired term to end Jan. 14, 2014.
