Three charged with Damaschke vandalism

Three people have been arrested for trespassing and vandalism at Damaschke Field, the city’s baseball field in Neahwa Park, Oneonta police said.

Police identified about 10 spots where graffiti had been painted, including on some bathroom and clubhouse doors, plus some other vandalism from the last week in August.

On Aug. 30, police arrested Jamie L. Gardner Jr., 19, of Binghamton, and brother and sister Justin S. Macken, 20, and Dana Macken, 16, of Oneonta. Each was charged with third-degree burglary, a felony, and misdemeanors of third-degree criminal trespass, fourth-degree criminal mischief and petit larceny, police said.

The Mackens were released.

Gardner, who also was charged with making graffiti, was sent to Otsego County jail, police said, and a jail official said Thursday that Gardner remains incarcerated.

Stephen Pindar, president of operations for the Oneonta Outlaws baseball team, said Sept. 3 that damage was minimal and the facilities have been cleaned up.
