---- — Republicans Carl Becker and Gilbert Close emerged victorious Monday — the last day that officials could accept mail-in votes — in two Delaware County elections.
Becker retained his post as county judge by 190 votes — 9,139 to 8,949 — among more than 18,000 ballots cast in the race.
Had the contest been decided solely on votes cast for the Democratic and Republican lines, challenger Gary Rosa would have won, 8,675 to 7,926.
But Becker picked up 716 and 497 votes on the Conservative and Independence lines, respectively, while Rosa gained just 274 votes on the Fair Justice line, the county election board reported.
In Colchester, Close, a Republican, received 447 votes. His challenger, Bonnie Seegmiller received 424 votes on the Democratic line and 15 on the Hometown Party line, for a total of 439 — a difference of just eight votes among 886 cast.
