Grants for homeowners to be offered

Some residents of Delaware and Schoharie counties may benefit from home repair and first-time homebuyer programs offered by the Western Catskills Community Revitalization Council Inc.

The council is administering grant programs for homeowners in Harpersfield, Kortright and Stamford in Delaware County and Blenheim, Broome, Conesville, Fulton, Gilboa, Jefferson and Summit in Schoharie County. These programs provide funds to address housing health, safety and accessibility issues, improve energy consumption and more. Households with income at 80 percent or below the county's HUD median income limits may be eligible.

In addition, WCCRC is managing two first-time homebuyer programs. The HOME program is operating in the service areas mentioned above, as well as in Roxbury and Middletown in Delaware County. The income requirements are the same.

The AHC program is operating in Harpersfield, Middletown, Roxbury, Kortright and Stamford in Delaware County. The household income limit on this program is 113 percent of the HUD county median income.

WCCRC is a 501(c) 3 nonprofit company that works with governmental and civic bodies to plan, develop, renew and improve housing.

Three upcoming meetings will offer information about these grant programs:

Today, 5:30 p.m., Stamford Town Hall, 101 Maple Ave., Hobart.

Tuesday, 5:30 p.m., Jefferson Town Hall, 677 North Harpersfield Road, Jefferson.
