WEST ONEONTA — The Oneonta Town Board will have a public hearing on its proposed budget at Town Hall at 7 p.m. today, the supervisor said.
The proposed general and highway fund budget for 2013 of $2,283,837 is up about $140,000 from this year, Supervisor Robert Wood said Tuesday. The increases are tied to expenses for highway equipment and a proposed water district in West Oneonta, he said.
Wood said there isn’t a change in the general fund levy but the levy for the highway is up 2 percent.
With the combined rates, a homeowner with a house assessed at $100,000 would see a tax bill increase of about $5, he said.
“We’re managing our money carefully,’’ Wood said.
