Fire destroys area home

A fire of undetermined origin swept through a home on Delaware County Route 11 in the town of Davenport on Friday morning, killing two family pets and destroying the structure, Pindars Corners Fire Chief Matthew Rittlinger said.

Rittlinger said the occupants of the house — identified as being members of the Amo family — were not at home at the time of the blaze. He said investigators are attempting to determine whether Christmas tree lights may have played a role in the fire.

“The house is going to have to be torn down,” he said.

Pindars Corners firefighters were joined by Davenport firefighters in battling the fire.
