Swimmer rescued from Otsego Lake

A young woman who had been swimming in Otsego Lake late Monday was rescued by a boater after she had leg cramps and began screaming for help, officials said Tuesday.

The identities of the swimmer and the boater who brought her to shore were unknown, members of the Cooperstown Fire Department said.

The woman, who had been swimming in the lake for about two hours, did not require medical attention, they said. The incident happened at about 10:20 p.m., just south of the Lakeview Motel on state Route 80.
