Woman charged with obstruction

A woman tried to prevent the arrest of her husband, who owed child support, Chenango deputies said in a media release.

William Bloomingdale, 30, whose address wasn't given, was arrested Monday on a bench warrant issued by Chenango County Family Court for failure to pay child support of $5,553, deputies said.

When two deputies were at a residence looking for Bloomingdale, his wife, Nicole Bloomingdale, allegedly lied regarding his whereabouts to prevent his arrest, the release said. William Bloomingdale was found by a deputy hiding in a closet, and he was charged with resisting arrest.

Nicole Bloomingdale was charged with obstruction of governmental administration, the release said, and she is to appear in Pharsalia Town Court at a later date.

William Bloomingdale was arraigned in Chenango County Family Court and sent to the Chenango County jail until he pays $5,553, the release said.
