Pool staff in Oneonta are preparing for the summer season.
At the town of Oneonta swimming pool near Greater Plains Elementary School in the West End, residents were registering for swimming lessons Wednesday afternoon.
Open registration will continue at 3 p.m. today, town officials said. But opening day and the start of lessons remain elusive as work at the pool remains to be done, they said.
In the city of Oneonta, the swimming pool in Wilber Park was being readied for opening Saturday, recreation clerk David Coury said Wednesday.
The pool was filled with water Tuesday, he said, and the pumps were "firing up" Wednesday.
The regular pool hours will be daily from 1 to 6 p.m. for open swim and from 6 to 8 p.m. for family swim, Coury said. Hours may be adjusted early next week until school finishes for the academic year, he said. Also, crews completed installation of playground equipment in Neahwa Park on Tuesday, and the structures are "ready for play," Coury said. A ribbon-cutting is being planned.
The pool in Neahwa Park is closed this summer because of budgetary reasons.
