Delaware deputies: Crash avoided

A Tennessee man was arrested for drunken driving after a deputy avoided an accident with the motorist's vehicle, a media release from the Delaware County Sheriff's Office said.

Dale L. Seward, 46, of Holladay, was charged with driving while intoxicated Wednesday, deputies said.

A deputy on patrol rounded a blind curve to find a vehicle stopped in the westbound lane of state Route 206 facing east, the release said, and the deputy was able to avoid a head-on crash.

Seward was passed out at the wheel and intoxicated, deputies said, and he also was charged with failure to keep right and having unsafe tires.

After arraignment in Walton Town Court, he was sent to the Delaware County jail on $5,000 cash or $10,000 bond bail, pending re-appearance Aug. 22.

Walton police assisted deputies in the arrest.
