A motorist was hurt in a three-vehicle accident on state Route 12 in the town of North Norwich on Wednesday, Chenango County deputies said.
Ralph Marshall, 51, of Georgetown, had serious leg and arm injuries, deputies said in a media release Thursday. After being extricated from his vehicle, he was flown to Wilson Memorial Regional Medical Center in Johnson City.
The crash at about 2 p.m. Wednesday was just north of Tracy Road, deputies said. The accident details were given as: Marshall was driving a pickup truck and crossed the center line into the path of a logging tractor-trailer operated by Gregory Kays, 44, of Callicoon.
Marshall's truck then hit another pickup truck, which was driven by Robert Austin, 70, of Sherburne, deputies said. Marshall's truck came to rest on the shoulder of the road, and Austin's came to rest in a cornfield.
Austin, Kays and an unidentified passenger in the logging truck weren't injured, deputies said.
The Chenango County Sheriff's Office was assisted by the North Norwich and Sherburne fire departments and the Norwich city ambulance crew. The investigation into the crash is continuing, deputies said, and charges are pending.
