Parking garage to host sale Saturday

To highlight the reopening of all levels of the city parking garage in Oneonta, Townsquare Media has organized what it is calling the "World's Biggest Garage Sale" from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday.

There are about 40 vendors signed up for the event, which will be on the middle level of the garage, Townsquare spokesman George Wells said Tuesday.

Vendors will be selling typical garage-sale items, including clothing and furniture. Something like this was done when the garage was first opened, Wells said.

"We thought for the reopening it would be appropriate," he said.

The title for the event was intended to be tongue-in-cheek, Wells said, but added that he would like to see it become an annual event.

The city issued a media release Tuesday saying that the garage, off of Market Street, had been undergoing repair and restoration in phases to its three levels, was open. While the top and lower levels will be open all day Saturday, the middle level will be closed from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. to accommodate the event.
