Two Oneonta men arrested Friday were accused of conspiring to sell cocaine, Otsego County deputies said in a media release.
Claude J. Grant, 27, and Ricky L. Taylor, 35, of 70 Market St., Apartment G, were charged with third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and fourth-degree conspiracy, both felonies, deputies said. They also were charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and second-degree criminally using drug paraphernalia, misdemeanors, and unlawful possession of marijuana.
The men were arrested after authorities executed a no-knock search warrant at their apartment after a two-week investigation by the Otsego County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division and the Oneonta Police Department Detective Bureau.
From the apartment, authorities seized cocaine packaged for sale; plastic baggies used for packaging narcotics; an electronic digital scale; marijuana cigarettes, a loaded semi-automatic .22-caliber rifle; and $454.
The defendants were arraigned before Oneonta City Court Judge Richard W. McVinney on Friday afternoon and sent to Otsego County jail on $25,000 bail each. The defendants, who are to reappear in city court today, face up to nine years in prison if convicted, deputies said.
