Fundraiser to help Nicaraguan development effort
Paintball players will get a chance to have some fun Saturday while contributing to a development effort in Nicaragua.
The fundraiser at Adrenaline Zone Paintball in Otego on Saturday, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., will help fund a trip to the Central American nation by a group from Main Street Baptist Church in Oneonta. The church and the charity Beyond Partnership are co-sponsors.
The church group plans to help build a school and carpentry shop at Finca Belen, or Bethlehem Farm, from Feb. 14 to Feb. 25, according to a press release from the charity. Finca Belen, which is in Chinandega District, near the Honduran border, is a focal point of government efforts to educate farmers in better agricultural techniques and train youths in various trades. A restaurant and welding shop already are up and running.
For directions and the required medical and waiver forms for the event, go to Adrenaline Zone’s website at www.adrenalinezonepaintball.com.
