Ian McIntyre is leaving Hartwick College to become the men’s soccer coach at Syracuse University, Hartwick College said Wednesday.
McIntyre, the head coach of the Hawks’ Division I program since 2003, graduated from Hartwick in 1996, earning All-America status during his senior season.
The Hawks went 71-36-25 during McIntyre’s seven seasons as coach. This past season, Hartwick finished 10-4-4, including a 2-1 victory over Syracuse on Oct. 13.
McIntyre replaces Oneonta native Dean Foti, who was fired in November after a 3-15 season. Foti coached the Orange from 1991-2009 and left with a 141-171-33 record.
Before taking over for Jim Lennox at Hartwick, McIntyre coached Oneonta State from 1998-2002.
