The State University of New York will hold an open forum Jan. 11 at the State University College of Technology at Delhi.
The forum, which will run from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. in the Resnick Library Cafe, is part of the SUNY-wide strategic planning process, presenters said.
According to a media release, the purpose of the SUNY Strategic Planning Open Forum is to receive testimony and statements from individuals concerning the strategic planning process.
The open forum at SUNY Delhi will focus on “Diversity in the World.” The forum will also address the university’s direction and role within the SUNY system.
Chancellor Nancy Zimpher initiated the statewide collaborative planning process in June. The four phases identified on the SUNY website include a campus tour, SUNY Delhi to host forum on plan, role which was completed in spring; a series of statewide “conversations,” of which the event in Delhi is one; the launch of the strategic plan, expected to begin in February; and an implementation phase that will continue through December 2010.
The Delhi session is the fourth of seven conversations planned, with others scheduled at Stony Brook University, SUNY Plattsburgh and the Upstate Medical University. More information is available online at www.suny.edu.
The forum is open to the public, but those who wish to speak at length are asked to e-mail StrategicPlanning@suny. edu or fax to (518) 320-1558 by noon Jan. 6. Organizers request a written copy of any oral testimony, as well as contact information for the speaker, including an e-mail address, phone number and mailing address.
Testimony will be limited to three minutes. Those who wish to make brief, extemporaneous comments may sign in at the forum. Speakers will be called on in the order in which they register.
The forum registration officer will take the names of those who wish to speak. Anyone who wishes to provide input may visit www.facebook.com/generationsuny and click on the “Discussions” tab.
