A fire damaged a
home in Delancey on
Sunday night, and a second
blaze a few hours
later destroyed it, according
to fire officials.
Delhi, Walton and Bovina
fire departments
were called to the fire
at the Main Street home
at about 6:45 p.m. Sunday.
Firefighters were at
the scene for about four
hours as they fought the
blaze, which damaged
an attic and an exterior
wall.
At about 4:40 a.m.
Monday, firefighters
were called back when
the fire rekindled.
This time, the fire
heavily damaged the
attic and second floor,
and the building had to
be demolished with an
excavator, Delhi First
Assistant Chief Jason
Brandenburg said Monday
night.
No injuries were reported.
The street address
and the names of the occupants
weren’t immediately
available from fire
officials Monday night.
Brandenburg said two
people lived in the home,
and they were present
during the first fire.
Delhi, Bovina, Andes,
Treadwell, Walton and
Bloomville firefighters
were at the scene of the
second blaze, Brandenburg
said.
