An Oneonta woman is offering help with writing and other literary services.
Barbara Bonebrake said she offers proofreading, copy-editing, tutoring or coaching through Pravilit Writing and Editing Services.
The business started about a year ago, she said, after a friend asked her to edit some children's stories.
``I have a feeling there are a lot of people carrying writing projects around in their heads and hearts, who just need a bit of a nudge in the right (write?) direction,'' Bonebrake said in a recent e-mail. ```Pravilit' stands for prayer, violin and literature _ three things I try to weave into my life each day.''
Bonebrake said she earned a bachelor's degree and a master's in secondary-education English from the State University College at Oneonta and has taught high school English. Her background also includes some nonfiction editing.
For more information, call Bonebrake at 432-8776 or send an e-mail to pravilit@yahoo.com.
Firm offers driving information, tips for teens
Hughson & Benson Associates insurance firm has created a ``Parent/Teen Driver Kit.''
The packet includes articles and materials about teens, driving and the impact on insurance, Hughson & Benson President Dallas Gedney said. With concerns about cell-phone texting and other issues with student drivers, he said, the agency organized the materials as a public service to help parents and teens.
The kit contains a parent/teen driving contract and ``101 Safe Driving Tips,'' among other helpful items, Gedney said.
For more information, or to make an appointment to pick up a kit, call Hughson & Benson Associates at 326 Main St., Oneonta, at 432-6900.
Company to work with counties
Fidelis Care has been approved by the state Department of Health and Departments of Social Services in Chenango and Delaware counties to serve local residents through the state's Child Health Plus, Family Health Plus and Medicaid Managed Care programs, a media release from the company said.
In Chenango County, more than 5,400 residents, including 900 children younger than age 19, lack health insurance. In Delaware County, more than 6,000 residents, including 1,000 children, lack health insurance, according to the state Department of Health, the Dec. 2 release said.
Social services commissioners in both counties welcomed the addition of Fidelis Care.
Child Health Plus is for uninsured children younger than 19. Adults ages 19 to 64 may qualify for low-cost coverage through Family Health Plus. Medicaid Managed Care is for children and adults who meet income, age or disability guidelines.
Kathie Greenblatt, executive director of Catholic Charities of Delaware & Otsego Counties, said her agency's Oneonta office has worked with Fidelis Care since the health plan expanded into Otsego County in January 2008.
"Many folks have been able to access coverage through this program," she said in the release.
Fidelis Care, the New York State Catholic Health Plan, is the largest government programs-based health insurance company in the state, the release said, and serves more than 545,000 members.
