At the end of a marathon meeting today, the Otsego County Board of Representatives passed a 2010 budget that will raise the county tax levy by 7.2 percent.
Representatives restored much of the county sheriff's budget, including six corrections officers and three road patrol deputies — positions that were slated to be cut in the tentative budget. The board also restored one probation officer, three road maintainers and the county's boat patrol, paying for these positions by opting not to repair a section of roof on the Meadows Office Complex and tapping the county's fund balance.
