OHS graduate plays princess

By Mark Boshnack

Anyone thinking that one of the princesses in a current live Disney show looks like a 2005 Oneonta High School graduate should rest assured. Alexandra Fassler, 22, will be appearing at select showings of the family event following "The Princess and the Frog" movie showing at the Ziegfeld Theatre in Manhattan.

She will be one of the princesses on floats in the nearby Roseland Ballroom.

Audiences can see her following the showing of the movie at 141 West 54th St. on selected dates, she said.

Fassler graduated from the Boston Conservatory earlier this year, where she studied musical theater, including singing, acting and dancing.

She has been going on "tons of auditions" and getting mostly modeling roles, so "I am very happy to be doing a performance," she said.

She could not discuss the specifics of her role because of show restrictions.

Fassler said she learned of the part about a month ago and was notified that she got the part almost two weeks ago.

She has been living in Manhattan since June 1 to pursue her career.

"I am so excited I could be a part of something like this," she said. "I am honored."

Her mother, Paula Fassler of East Meredith, said her daughter is scheduled to appear today, Dec. 3, 4, 7, 10 and 11.

Show times are 10 a.m., 1 p.m., 4 p.m., 7 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. The show started Wednesday and runs through Dec. 13.

Paula Fassler will be attending a Dec. 7 showing, with other family members, she said.

"I can't wait to see it," she said. "I am so proud of her."
