GRAND GORGE _ Applications for Grand Gorge Apartments, located in a restored 1930s school building, are being accepted.
One- and two-bedroom apartments are available in the renovated senior complex. Applicants must be 62 years of age or disabled. Income must be at or below $23,062 for one person or $26,325 for two people. A state rental assistance subsidy is available for those who qualify.
The apartment complex has a community room, coin-operated laundry facility, ample parking and on-site mail boxes for delivery and pick up. There is also a senior meal site. The site has served meals for 26 years, five days a week. The fee is $3 per meal.
The apartments are within walking distance to shopping, churches, a hair salon, a bank and a post office.
The Delaware County Office for the Aging provides weekly bus transportation to various shopping locations, including Crossgates Mall in Albany, Hudson Valley Mall in Kingston and Oneonta's Southside Mall. Delaware Opportunities can also provide scheduled transportation for medical appointments.
The hamlet of Grand Gorge is also home to several organizations, including the Community Action Group and a senior citizen club.
