Afton store burglarized

AFTON _ Three people were arrested Wednesday in connection with a burglary at Afton Country Store.

Steven C. Barrows, 19, of Unadilla; Heather A. Wrench, 21, of Bainbridge; and Arnie J. Roe, 27, also of Bainbridge, were charged with third-degree burglary.

The trio broke into the 30 Maple St. store early Wednesday morning, stole cigarettes and left the building, according to a media release from state police.

They returned a short time later and stole an unspecified amount of money, troopers said.

The three were arrested later the day of the burglary after an investigation, and most of the stolen property was recovered, troopers said.

In addition, Roe was charged with third-degree burglary for an unrelated break-in last month at Frog Pond Farms in Bainbridge.

All three were arraigned before Town Justice Ronald Sherman. Barrows and Wrench were sent to Chenango County jail on $10,000 bail/$20,000 bond, while Roe was sent there on $20,000 bail/$40,000 bond.
