2 charged with aiding alleged murderer

Staff Report

Two women were arrested Tuesday for allegedly helping a Montgomery County man flee the state after he allegedly killed his father in Schoharie County.

Gerry King, 37, was caught in Connecticut on Nov. 17 and extradited to New York, state police previously said.

He was charged with second-degree murder in connection with the death of George King, 63, who was found dead in his town of Sharon home Nov. 16, troopers said.

Gerry King's girlfriend, Joleen Henderson, 36, of Sprakers, and her mother, Alice Williams, 72, of Sharon Springs, fled with King and Henderson's 13-year-old son to Connecticut in Williams' van, troopers said.

Henderson conspired to destroy physical evidence, while Williams allowed King to use her van to flee the state, troopers said.

Henderson was charged with tampering with physical evidence, fourth-degree conspiracy, endangering the welfare of a child and first-degree hindering prosecution. She was jailed on $25,000 bail/$50,000 bond to await further action in Sharon Town Court.

Williams was charged with first-degree hindering prosecution and released on her own recognizance.

An autopsy on the elder King showed his death was caused by blunt-force trauma, troopers said.

Gerry King was charged Nov. 18 with second-degree murder and was sent to Schoharie County jail without bail pending further court action.
