No charges were filed by a Delaware County grand jury against one of those arrested during an investigation into a series of suspicious fires in the county, an official said.
Charges were brought Monday against three others in the grand-jury indictment, Delaware County District Attorney Richard Northrup said.
Two Stamford residents were arrested Oct. 8 in connection with a fire at an unoccupied farmhouse in Hamden that occurred in April.
Ashley R. Mason, 18, was not indicted, but Timothy L. Haner, 24, was charged with third-degree arson, Northrup said.
Haner was being held in Delaware County jail on $5,000 bail, according to deputies. Mason was released on her own recognizance at the time of her arrest.
Donald, J. Aitken, 22, and Cody D. Fancher, 17, both of East Meredith, were arrested Oct. 7 for their involvement in the fire that destroyed the Sidney Center United Methodist Church and other blazes that occurred from April to October, Northrup said.
The grand jury indicted them each for the following: eight counts of third-degree arson; five counts of third-degree burglary; three counts of second-degree burglary; three counts of third-degree criminal mischief; and one count of second-degree arson, petit larceny, fifth-degree attempted arson and first-degree reckless endangerment.
Aitken was being held in Delaware County jail on $25,000 cash bail. Fancher was being held on $10,000 bail. An arraignment in Delaware County court was being arranged, and a trial for the three could occur in April, Northrup said.
